Labor Day lies and rumors

As Americans get prepared to eat hot dogs and steaks on the grill, Labor Day represents more than a celebration of the American worker (especially ones not held hostage by union thugs).

Labor Day is the last Monday without NFL Football for 17 weeks.

Yet even on a day as important as this, some lies and rumors need to be debunked.

First of all, Labor Day has nothing to do with pregnancy.

More importantly, I am not in labor.

I know people have seen pictures of me, and know that my “diet” consists of buying bigger clothing. Some have pointed out that I am in my third trimester. If it is a boy, I am going to name it “gut.”

For those who think trying to birth a baby is painful, try getting out of bed in the morning when one is really tired and the sheets are really comfortable.

So Labor Day should honor people like me, because ending sleep and starting the day will be a labor in itself.

For those who think that Britain has anything to do with this, that is Labour. Elitists like to add extra letters to words for no reason. Average neighborhoods have harbors. Rich neighborhoods have harbours.

I would say more, but let’s be honest. Labor Day for most people is a day off and nothing more.

Ironically, obstetricians will be working.

As for me, I will be eating several hot dogs and hamburgers because if I have been wrong all this time and really am with child, eating for two allows me to expand the waistline.

Off to relax until the real pain hits on Pepto Bismol Tuesday.

…when in Rome… we worked on Christmas eve and Christmas Day in Iraq…we worked today…yesterday…and will work tomorrow…but the holiday Eid el Fatr starts Thursday, and we just learned that we will stand down from training and conducting missions for four days because the Afghans (and most of the rest of the Arab population throughout the world) will be feasting, sleeping, and I hope bathing and brushing their teeth. Some celebrate it differently, but our stalwart Afghan counterparts abstain from eating, drinking, chewing gum, or partaking in anything during daylight hours. They also abstain from bathing and brushing their teeth during this 28 day period…my interpreters are too close to me when they talk now. I don’t like their talking in my face, either…I point to my good ear (which fortunately has the bad sinus side) and turn my head for them to talk into it as I hold my breath. I will celebrate Eid el Fatr!! We will have time to revamp performance of instruction models, revise OPORDs, and relax. Praise God!! (and others can praise Allah, and others can “prays for forgiveness” and still others can prays the Good Lord sends His Holy Spirit your way… or not, if you are so dis-inclined…and praise bath water and toothbrushes…

  2. I think maybe uber-capitalist, anti-labor people probably should take the day off blogging on Labor Day. ;) For all the other holidays, conservatives tell us that we should remember, honor, and memorialize the spirit of that day. Labor Day is the one holiday conservatives tell us we should forget the spirit of the day and just consider it no more than a day off work. Quite hypocritical. Imagine if I wrote, “Screw Christmas, Jesus has nothing to do with the holiday, and even less those thugs in the Christian clergy.” What would people say about that?

Unions built this country. They made the opportunities you and I enjoy today. Today is a day to remember, honor, and memorialize the great men and women of the American Labor Movement, and to recoil with disgust at the real “thugs,” those “captians of industry and agriculture,” who with nothing but greed and evil in their hearts tried and still try to keep the working men and women of America down.

Was it the Chinese Union who built the RRs? The Black Unions who picked cotton? The Pilgrim Union who invested in stocks and bonds? The Union union who kept the country together? Far too many counter examples… When people have a skill or work ethic that is worth something, employers hire them. Just because someone breathes doesn’t mean he/she deserves a certain wage. This country was not built by unions – it was built by supply and demand…

“I think maybe uber-capitalist, anti-labor people probably should take the day off blogging on Labor Day. ”

Actually, its Obama who should be taking the day off and give us all break who have listen ti him on an almost daily basis. But no. What does this schmuck do ?
On labor day, of all days, when weve got the highest unemployment in decades, a smelly floundering economy, he gets up on his soap box and addresses the whole nation on how hes gonna fix it all with our money…again. The one word he wont be using is “stimulus” which frankly at this point only means failure.
Giving this address today on this issue is no different than screwing in the name of virginity.

    Worst president ever

  5. Micky 2 says:

(Psst, Jersey. You cant unionize unless you have a job)
    Think on that

  6. Think on what? That the sleazy uber-capitalist whored all our jobs off-shore to third world kleptocracies and communist states? Yeah, I’ll “think on that” this Labor day, Micky.

And anyone who blames Obama for this economy is a liar, a fool, or was literally born yesterday.

  7. Micky 2 says:

See, you dont even know what to think on because you’re blind to the fact that you have to have entrepreneurs and invention and job creation before you can even think of unionizing.
Is Obama creating jobs ? Was our country built on unions ? NOT EVEN !

You’re the fool. Grow up and take resposibility. Half your own party is ditching his arse because they dont want to look like they were born yesterday.
The facts on this issue have been presented to you numerous times. Your only return has been for you to expect us all to take your word for it that were not as smart as you. Typical liberal elitest crap that says you know whats best cuz we just cant think for ourselves.
    You make me sick sometimes.

2 years and things are ten times worse. Literally

  8. Eagle,

Those aren’t “counter-examples,” just other examples of peoples that built this country. Of course, they’re also examples of a sleazy, corrupt corporatocracy taking advantage and abusing cheap, even slave, labor. The Pilgrims are an odd example, or rather not even an example at all, as they really didn’t do much for this country.

Unions did “build this country,” at least as we know it today. Now, of course, when I say “unions” I mean exactly that – “unions” of workers (not “unions” as just contractual arrangements). The country you enjoy today, with it’s massive expanses of physical and instututional infrastructure, residential, commercial, and industrial development, was built primarily with union labor, in the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and into the 80’s. Today, the labor movement has been crushed by “right to work” laws, “free trade,” and federal, state and local government’s turning their backs to labor rights.

This is American History 101, my friend.

    Micky,

I’m still waiting for a substantive response. Just because you said so isn’t enough.

  9. Micky 2 says:

“I’m still waiting for a substantive response. Just because you said so isn’t enough.’

    You’re a moron.
    (excuse me Eric)
I’m not yours or one of Obamas fcking crack monkeys. I’m not digging up all the sources and documents I’ve shown you before, again.
Weve been thru this, you’ve seen the data, and your “un-substansive” response was to attack mine and everyones intellect.

    History 101 ?
Riiiight…go look up how Henry Ford felt about unions.

Unions did not build this country. People who needed to eat built this country

  10. Micky 2 says:

I dont have to do as you and always insist my word is gospel.
Its plain to see that unions are actually destroying this country. Michigans in the capper, Ohios next with close to 11% unemployment.
Thats why everything indicates you guys are going to lose Ohio big time for the first time in a ling time.
Almost all our fed and state workers are unionized.
Hows that working for us bro ?
The writings on the wall, the verdict is in.
    Unions blow

  11. Okay, Micky. Let’s go with that.

Do chambers of commerce blow? How about industry PACs and lobbyists? How about foreign-interest interest groups? Do military contractors blow? How about loacl commercial group concerns? Do they blow?

Why is it okay for the corporatocracy to organize, but not workers?

    JMJ

  12. Micky 2 says:

Uhh, gee, we have so many great labor laws on the books administered to us by union government workers you’d think there’d be no need for unions Jersey.
Unions ruined the country and many great companies.
They’re nothing better than organized criminals offering you protection…from them !
Your union states are failing left and right Jersey.
    Period.
All unions ever did was screw me and hold me back.
You want to sit on your a$$ and collect a wage just for breathing go ahead. Only a feeble entitlement minded slouch would want to have his hand held with a guaranteed raise every 6 months regardless of merit and performance.
Where I come from we pay people for their talents and worth and dont oppress them with dictative authoritarian schedules that do nothing to instill creativity and entreprenuership.
Truly pathetic “take care of me” weenies

  13. Micky 2 says:

It wouldnt be a “corporation” if it werent organized Jersey.
And if it werent for that “corporation” there would be no jobs to unionize.

    genius

  14. So, Micky, you’re saying only corportions employ people?

    JMJ

  15. Eagle 6 says:

Jersey, The Pilgrim example was an attempt at humor with the “stocks and bonds” (as in publicly putting people in stocks and bonding them…)… As far as unions go, of course I agree with you that it was a unity of effort – unions of people – that created this country’s greatness. I think we take far too many leaps in drawing conclusions about a number of the issues, but BLUF: supply and demand, value-added, and accountability are key to success – and there is no doubt certain people will take advantage of other people, but that doesn’t make all Republicans evil, and just because a number of Democrats vote for candidates who sponsor the welfare state doesn’t make all Democrats lazy and irresponsible. there’s a balance to be found, and over the next ten years I believe we will be well on our way to an adjustment to the two part system…

  16. Eagle 6 says:

    Party!! not two part…

  17. Norm says:

It was a labor of love reading this…
I think the country was pretty much built on the backs of individuals but I guess Jersey McJones would disagree.
So the capitalists are greedy…and the unions are not? I don’t think soooo.
Does the capitalist who provided Jersey McJ with a job owe anything to Jersey? Not on you life! Now does Jersey McJ have a home? A car? A boat? A digital camera? A dog? A cat? A HD TV? and all them other do-dads? Who does Jersey McJ thank for all that he owns? Thank God for the job that the capitalist provided for all those worldly goods in Jersey McJ’s posession…aahh, did I mention, “God”?

  18. Norm says:

Just got back from Jersey McJ’s website…
I think he is a product of the 60’s mindset and unless some major something hits him square across his no-brainer brain he will be always and forever lost in a deep sea of camel poop. One thing for sure, the Department of Education has a very successful program called the Dumbing Down of America…Jersey McJ is proof!

By the way Jersey… When the country goes completely under and comes up with that United Nations flag flying over the Capitol who will you blame?
    Democrats or Republicans?

  19. Micky 2 says:

“So, Micky, you’re saying only corportions employ people?”

Thats irrelevant. You’re the one attacking them. I simply pointed out that you must have creation, product, sales, production and manpower before you can unionize.

Unions offer none of that which is essential to anything that supports a companys/corporations cost effectiveness.
The liberal mentallity of promising more than any company or goverment can supply is now biting them in the a$$.

    End of story
