Election 2009 has come and gone. Step one is the descriptive. Step two is the 2009 analytical. Step three is my 2010 wish, which is that everybody ignores the results of the 2009 election.
The descriptive is as simplistic as most leftist kids on college campuses. The Democrats got b*tchslapped.
They can sugarcoat it all they want. They got their clocks cleaned. Virginia was a triple crown, with each Republican winning by 15 to 20 points. It was a shellacking.
New York City Mayor Bloomberg took one step closer toward being dictator for life by having the city constitution changed so he could run for a third term. He beat a liberal, although by a much narrower than expected margin. He still desperately needed help from Rudy Giuliani, proving who the real Mayor was.
Most importantly, billionaire socialist Jon Corzine went down in left-wing flames.
Is that descriptive enough? Good, Let’s talk analysis.
I could care less about Virginia from an emotional standpoint. Politically, I am delighted. However, it was not personal. I was in Virginia a couple of weeks ago and the GOP energy was palpable.
New Jersey was personal. I admit. I look at Jon Corzine, and I dislike the man.
No, it has nothing to do with the fact that I think he resembles cro-magnon man. Yes, he is bald with a sinister looking beard, and yes in the thirteenth century a phrenologist would have declared him to fit the profile of a mass murderer. Yes, I still think he is secretly frequenting my swimming pool. I can let that go for now.

(Also, yes, his concession speech was very gracious and classy. His remark about his 93 year old mother being a registered Republican was touching.)
I just don’t like the fact that the former head of Goldman Sachs became a socialist after making his own millions.
I don’t like that he brought more corruption to New Jersey, although the difference was negligible between him and other New Jersey officials. He put his lover on the payroll, and was never held accountable for it.
I don’t like the fact that he acted like he was not bound by the rules that commoners have to obey, such as not driving 91 miles per hour and getting into auto accidents on the highway and putting lives at risk.
Yet my biggest objection with him (ok fine, the beard really is sinister) is that I can’t stand wealthy liberals who preach to everybody else. If a person is poor and on the left, I can understand this. Even being wealthy and liberal is fine if done quietly. Yet being wealthy and liberal by taking advantage of tax breaks and deregulation and then drowning the middle class in excessive taxes and regulations is as hypocritical as it is destructive.
I don’t mind Corzine’s wealth. I mind his arrogance in trying to prevent me from achieving that wealth. I was born and raised in New York, and Wall Street has been good to me. I will pay more blood money in taxes the day he writes a check to pay my student loans. All I ask for is a chance, and Corzine will no longer be stifling people with dreams under the fake guise of compassion.
As for the 23rd New York Congressional district, every right of center politician involved should be waterboarded. The Democrats did not win the seat. The Republicans threw it away.
I said that as much as I can’t stand third party candidates, I would be ok with Hoffman if he won. He lost. Close doesn’t cut it. He is now as useless as Ned Lamont.
Congratulations to all of those third party supporters who cut off their noses to spite their faces.
Yet the GOP establishment also deserves plenty of blame. By nominating a leftist that was not even close to being a Republican, they enraged the base.
So if the Republican candidate was so awful, why not go third party?
Because they lose. What the base should have done is pressured the Republican to drop out the very moment she was given the nomination. Even better, they could have made sure she was never appointed by applying pressure before, not after. She could have been replaced with another Republican. Heck, it could have been Hoffman. Yet the party and the base both betrayed each other. Now a Democrat holds a seat in a year where Republicans won everything else.
As for Virginia, the landslides speak for themselves.
Now for 2010. I pray that everybody ignores the 2009 results. Pretend like they never happened.
I want the Jayson Blair Times and the Los Angeles Palestinian Times to run front page stories extolling the 23rd New York Congressional race. I want it to be seen as a vindication of President Obama.
I want to see Creigh Deeds in Virginia blamed as a terrible candidate despite nearly beating McDonnell in the Attorney General race when they last faced off. I want Corzine thrown under the bus as the worst Governor since Jim Florio. I want President Obama to be totally blameless.
I want President Obama and his supporters to do what he always does. I want him taking full credit for the wins and taking no blame for the losses.
The media loves Barack Obama. They worship him. They will try to spin the results in his favor. Republicans should shut up and let this happen.

You see, Barack Obama is like Julius Caesar. Until Caesar was stabbed by Casca, he was convinced that everybody loved him. Barack Obama has good qualities and many strengths. Yet his major weakness is his arrogance. I have often said that he is a world class athlete. He can jump 20 feet in the air just to reach his own nose. I have also often said that every morning he puts on a cologne called “Eau D’Obama Anus.”
Bill Clinton lost hius arrogance after a good political humbling. Bill Clinton ignored the 1993 results. He then got clocked in 1994. By finally getting the message in 1994, Bill Clinton reacted in time to save himself in 1996.
If Barack Obama gets rocked in 2010, he will begin adapting before 2012. Yet we might not even win 2010 if Mr. Obama begins adapting in 2009.
Some people will say that he will adapt, because he is such a bright guy. Only a stupid man would fail to get the message.
This is wrong thinking. Bill Clinton was intelligent. The issue is not one of brains or I.Q, It is one of ego.
I used to see a t-shirt that said, “I’m not arrogant. I’m just better than you.”
Barack Obama will have some honest advisers that will try to have him in a panic. Yet many of his advisers are complete toadies who will tell him what he wants to hear. He will be very tempted to listen to the toadies.
Members of Congress are gutless. They may start running away from him to avoid being fired. Yet 1994 did not hurt Clinton because they failed to get bills passed. It was because they did pass bad bills. It was not the collapse of health care reform. It was the passing of the gun control legislation that doomed them, in addition to the tax hikes.
If Barack Obama decides to force his agenda, it will show that he has a tin ear. Again, one can be a very bright person, which he is, and still be myopic.
George W. Bush fired Donald Rumsfeld after 2006 brought Nancy Pelosi into the speakership. Bill Clinton was forced to adapt due to the rise of Newt Gingrich.
Barack Obama will adapt if confronted by a Speaker John Boehner or a Majority Leader Eric Cantor.
Yet if he adapts before then, those two men will remain in the minority.
President Obama must be allowed to stay in the political bubble, oblivious to the notion that the 2009 election was in any way a message. His strength of book smarts must be allowed to give way to his weakness of hubris.
Therefore, I am declaring the 2009 elections a complete victory for the Democratic Party. The tiny Republican victories were insignificant.
From this day forward, unless and until Republicans win in 2010, there is to be no more mentioning about how badly the Democrats got b*tchslapped.
Self-restraint is difficult, but after today, no more celebrating even the fact that a leftist billionaire hypocrite who is bald and has a sinister looking beard finally got fired. Goldman Sachs was better off after firing him, and so was New Jersey.
Now if only Mr. Corzine would get out of my swimming pool.

Today I’m gonna spend a little more time than usual watching CNN and MSNBC so I can get my laughs watching them try to minimize these wins.
Wanna hear how Gibbs spins this. Hes always good for a laugh.
I’m just upset that the fringe-right candidate in upstate NY lost. I was hoping he’d win, emboldening the Glenn Beck-Sarah Palin wingnuts, and further marginalize the GOP. With that loss, and with these wins, the GOP will realize that it must move more to the center, as did almost all it’s winning candidates of last night.
Polls showed less than half of the voters in VA and NJ were voting with Obama in mind, negatively or positively. Obama’s popularity remains steadily high, and his initiatives remain popular. So, it was a bit of a referendum on Obama and the Dems, but not that much. It was also a bit of the usual anti-incumbancy thing we often see in both those states, but again, not that much. The main issues in play in both VA and NJ were mostly local, and these winners are going to be feeling the hate soon enough on those issues…
In NJ the main issue has been, for a looooong time now, property taxes. Not corruption. Not social issues. Not income or sales taxes. Not terrorism or Israel. Property taxes are NUMBER ONE BY FAR IN A LONG WAY on the minds of NJ’s voters, but without a major state contitutional amendment, or some miraculous en masse merging of municipal services throughout the state, there is NO WAY to fix NJ’s property tax problem. Soon enough, Christie is going to take the heat for that, and he has no realistic way of handling it that he’s expressed thus far. All NJ voters knew was that Corzine couldn’t get it done so they hope the next guy will. It took down Corzine, it will take down Christie, and take down the next guy, and so on and so on, until NJ voters grow up and realize that Home Rule is a complete and total failure and IS the very cause of their property tax woes.
In VA, there were two main issues, but they’re really the same. The economy and transportation. But to deal with the phenomenal growth VA has come to expect, and bring more and better jobs and revenues into the state, VA has to deal with it’s biggest problem: it’s lousy transportation. VA never built the roads and rails, never brought in the buses, to deal with it’s growth, and now you just can’t get from Point A to Point B in VA anymore. Anyone who’s driven through the state in recent years (and I have, several times) knows what a disaster transportation in VA has become, and once again, the winner from yesterday will become the loser of tomorrow when it becomes obvious to voters that he has NO PLAN to deal with VA’s transportation woes. Ya’ can’t just cut taxes to make this problem go away. Ya’ can’t just complain about unions or liberals to build new roads. Ya’ can’t just make it harder for raped little girls to get abortions to lay down rails. Virginians will realize this soon enough, and the hate will come.
These new governors need to get realistic and actually try to deal with their states’ problems. They need to put aside partisanship. Ending Home Rule and building roads should not be partisan initiatives. They should be just good ol’ good sense. These guys, if they can tackle these issues head-on and realistically, could be the next rising stars of a new and reinvigorated rising GOP. If they continue with the same ol’ same ol’, then in four years you guys will be explaining how their losses are not a referendum on the national GOP. And you’d probably be right.
I congratulate the winners, and I wish them and their states the best of luck.

Before you all fall off your seats, hear me out., Obama’s win was the Democrats loss.
Listen to my reasoning…sure, they won more seats in the Congress and
the Executive..but what have they really won?
Can anyone think of one campaign promise kept by Obama this past year? I can’t.
Well for starters, some people will say the TARP (toxic assets/mainly
real estate) bail-out (whatever you call it), amounting to over 700b.
First, not all the money has been spent. Secondly, not all the banks have
made loans, the reason they got the money to begin with.
According to one former employee of Goldman Sachs, in fact, over 16
trillion dollars has been pledged to save the economy, one way or another.
The TARP was really, view it as you prefer, a Bush achievement, NOT
Obama.
In today’s LA Times, are 3 interesting articles about the M.E. and
several about Afghanistan (Obama’s War). They say a lot about the liberal paper. the liberal media, CNN, PBS and Charlie Rose.
Israeli generals have reported that Hamas has gotten rocket parts
smuggled in from Iran..which can go 30 miles (or reach the outskirts
of Tel Aviv, if fired from the Strip). For those who don’t know, Israel signed a cease fire with Hamas stopping Operation Cast Lead, it’s incursion into the area to destroy Hamas infrastructure, destroy the rocket sites, destroy the hidden rocket factories and kill militia.
Part of that cease fire was for Hamas to stop the smuggling from Egypt.
Hamas now has more and more deadly rockets. So much for UN
cease fires.
Some Israelis believe they are waiting for a more opportune time to
lauch these rockets..like Iran’s testing of an atomic bomb.
In another article, a young Palestinian decrys the cycle of violence.
He claims his relative was killed in a peacefu demonstration against Israel,
by a high-velocity RPG. All they were doing was demonstrating..with love in their heart.
And I will sell you the Verrazano Bridge for 24.00.
In one of the articles, it describes rockets fired into Southern Israel,
as crude and lacking guidance mechanisms. It does admit that 20 plus have been killed.
No mention is made of the wounded, or the terror felt by little
school children going to or at school, or people praying Saturdays
in their synagogues..fearing the 15 second or so warning given by
sirens of an approching rocket.
No mention is made of the Grad and Katyusha rockets fired from the Strip at Ashkelon, a moderate sized city known for it’s oil and chemical refineries and storage (one Grad hitting a refinery or chemical plant and thouands of Jews die or are wounded).
No mention was made of the cease fire, which prohibited the smuggling.
There is an article about Iran’s continuing but quieter protests against the election of Ahmad. Some say, we should deal with the leaders, no matter
the fraud and reaction by the mullahs and Ahmad and his henchmen. Others don’t want any talks..which just embolden and give legitimacy to the current leadership.
And I ask, where is our do-nothing President in all this?
Please folks, provide one, just one of his accomplishments?
As Eric writes…Bloomberg won by a small minority…in a very, very,
liberal city, where 2/3 of the people rent..(the USA figure is 2/3 own homes)., minorities prevail in every aspect of the city’s life.
BTW, NYState is actually 3 states..the “Big Apple”, the suburbs, and upstate. Upstate has as much similarity to the city as NY Republicans have to Alabama Republicans.
Anyone having been to NYCity…notices one thing right away, no one speaks English. Lots of Yiddish (but declining), Hebrew, Arabic, Farci,
Italian, Polish, German, Russian and a broken Irish that few understand.

We’ve got the Democrats on the run..seeking shelter anywhere they can find it.
An asst to our own gov, Arnold, just quit..he can’t take it anymore. The problem, not sufficient money to run the liberal state.
We’ve got to continue to blast the liberal Democrats everywhere and
at every opportunity. Obama is his own worst enemy.
As I told a friend, the Democrats needed a guy like Truman, Johnson
or even a John Kennedy to govern. Instead they found the black hope, a guy who is more white than black. Isn’t he? Think about it.
I like Obama and Joe Biden personally. They are great for playing a game of poker with, or a game of golf, or basketball, one on one.
But to lead this country out of the economic mess ( one year Demos under Obama and 2 under Bush (Congress), stop Iran from bombing Tel Aviv or perhaps NYCity, come to some conclusion in Afghanistan..no way Jose,
or should I say Barack Hussein.
Speaking of Hussein, Hillary is softening Obama’s take on the nursery schools in the W. Bank and houses in E. Jerusalem. She now says that
Bibi has agreed to a temporary freeze, after the existing construction is
completed. She wants the Palis to talk, engage, with Israel.
The Palestinian leadership says ynet..no talks, no compromise,
no deals, no recognizition of Israel as a state of the Jews, or a Jewish State.
And Obama still is pushing his foreign policy…defeat and retreat,
and lots of stalling for time, hoping for the real messiah to come.
Oh one thing..health care..let’s talk about that for one moment.
It is now stalled over whether the govt should pay for abortions
and liberals are threatening to defeat any plan not to their
liking.

Yeah right. Healthcare has the lowest approval rating ever yet and almost all polls show the country is not happy with his initiatives.

Micky, why is it that when the American people believe something you agree with, they’re smart, but when they believe something you disagree with, they’re stupid? The American people may not be the most politically savvy people in the world, but it takes a little more than a smile to win them over. Obama is popular because he seems to honestly care about the American people, peace, fair play, and good governance. Most Americans want healthcare reform, they want to end the wars, they want Wall Street and the big banks reined in, they want student loans nationalized and the profiteering of education by the banks ended, they want credit card lenders to be honest and their payments to them properly creditted. People like Obama because he wants what the people want.
Corzine lost in NJ because there was too much nonsense and hanky panky in his administration and among the state Dems, because he was associated with the hated Goldmann Sachs and the Wall Street thieves, and finally, and most importantly, because he was completely unable to do anything about the property tax problem. The NJ results had almost nothing to do with Obama.
In VA, Obama was more of a player. A lot of voters were de facto voting against Obama rather than for anyone. VA, for whatever reason, has voted against the presidents party in every election since 1977. They are an anti-incumbant sort of folk. But even then, less than half of VA voters said their vote for pro or anti Obama. In VA, McConnell made a whole lot of crazy promises, as Homer Simpson would say. He won on those crazy promises. But he was very weak on details. VA voters are not the savviest. They fell for it. the Democrat was honest. he said, and I paraphrase, ‘we have to build up our transportation infrastructure and we’ll have to raise taxes to do it.’ Virginians want their cake, but they don’t want to pay for the batter. They elected someone who panders to that. In four years, when the traffic is so bad that you’re btter off walking twenty miles to get to work, maybe Virginians will grow up, act like adults, and buy themselves a better transportation infrastructure.
Whatever the case, in both NJ and VA the GOP candidates ran toward the middle. This was no victory for conservatism. Both candidates ran on all sorts of crazy promises, to build roads- without money, to impose state rules on property taxes – even though it’s not constitutional. Not exactly conservative messages. All the proof you need of that was in the historic upstate NY election. No Dem has won that district since the 1870’s. When you guys run lunatic rightwingnuts, they lose. Sarah Palin and her ilk are destroying the GOP. By your own very logic expressed above, you can not deny this.

for personalties, I am interested in policy.
Obama is somewhat self-centered, a bit arrogent, but pleasant otherwise.
He hides his true feelings well. John McCain was volitile. Maybe it’s age, or his having been a prisoner of war for over 5 years? I don’t know?
John has been around the block far more times than Obama..and it
made him crusty.
I say, so what?
Isn’t it all about winning, both for the Republicans and Democrats.
The Republicans lost..and this should be a reminder that the party
really does need to enlarge it’s umbrella., but not necessarily to
change it’s core beliefs..small government, opportunity to succeed
for everyone (but we can’t all be Koby Bryants), and a foreign policy
which doesn’t apolgize for prior US actions to make our enemies
and adversaries smile, while they deposit our petro dollars.
Whither gay marriages, or abortions..I mean how many gays are there
anyway in the US. In California the estimates are 3%.
As far as abortions, two-thirds of US are for it..perhaps during the 1st 3 months..then leveling off towards the 9th month.
All the to do over these 2 issues..which DO NOT affect most of us.
But 32m jobless or unemployed..do affect us. Whether we are nuked
by Iran someday, or No. Korea, does affect us. A Russian military base
in Cuba or Venezuela, does affect us. A Turkey moving towards radical
Islam does affect us. ARMS BEING DELIVERED TO SYRIA AND FWD TO
HEZBOLLAH, in violation of several UN acts…has significant meaning.
Now according to Israeli military, ALL OF ISRAEL IS VULNERABLE.
I recall when Israeli troops fired rubber bullets at Molotov throwing Pales in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. That escalated into suicide bombings, and roadside bombs…which killed over 1,000 Israelis (where were you then Goldstone?).
Now, Hez has boasted 80,000 rockets and Hamas is getting Fahr missiles. Israel can be blanketed with rockets,,if another war.
Hillary is called a liar by the Fatah chieftan…she is now saying that any freeze will have to be permanent. I’m sure Bibi will kowtow to her and the do-nothing President Obama.
I mean, if we lost 60,000 people ( equivalent to Israel’s 1,000), and had tens of thousands of rockets aimed at US and ready to fire..how would we react?
The elections are a hopeful sign that every liberal Democrat will have
to look for another job somewhere.
Frankly, if an Independent votes for less govt, lower taxes, gays precluded from the military or married under civil laws, and an aggressive foreign policy ( I would not preclude attacking Iran’s current regime utilizing the 3 battleship groups in the Persian Gulf..even using a few baby nukes), I’m for the Independents.
However, the Democrats say they are an inclusive party…perhaps
we patriots can learn something from them..as long as we don’t give up our core beliefs, I’ve stated earlier.

It was not a victory for conservatism, Micky, but it was victory for the GOP – in two big ways: One, it was just a good ol’ fashioned clock-cleaning in a couple of big states, and Two, the party won by being more inclusive and moving to the political center. They learned a valuable lesson: radical conservatism, the whole “teabager” movement, and Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck et al, are not the path to victory for the GOP. the bloodletting and purging may now be ending. It’s time for the GOP to grow it’s tent. I think thay know that now.
